Signs You Are Spoiling Your Child
There is a very fine line between making sure your child is protected and provided for and spoiling them and for parents, it can be very easy to lean towards the latter. This is because you want the best for your child and cannot bear to see them in pain. But more often than not, this results in you raising spoiled kids, even when you don’t intend to.
Here are a few signs that you are spoiling your child.
• They throw tantrums when they don’t get their way
While it is perfectly normal for kids to be upset when they cannot get what they want, spoiled kids have a particularly hard time when they don’t get their way. They may cry and throw tantrums, get violent and aggressive and have meltdowns simply because they don’t take the word “no” very well and always want to get what they want, when they want it.
For example, if you take away their phones or tablets and try to control their screen time, they may throw tantrums. Apps like spy phone, spy phone app, and phone tracker could come in handy at such times.
• They are unappreciative and always want more
A child who is spoiled is ungrateful and unappreciative of their blessings. They could have the best toys in the world, but they would not be satisfied and still want more. Instead of being thankful for all the things they have, they are more focused on all the things they don’t have and will complain or throw tantrums till they have their hands on the next thing. They may also have a hard time saying “thank you”.
• They are sore losers
Kids who are spoiled often do not like or thrive in a competitive environment. They like it only when they are the winner. They are sore losers and have a hard time accepting that they are not the winner. While it is normal for kids to be upset when they lose, spoiled kids have an extremely tough time managing their disappointment and anger when they lose any kind of competition.
• They refuse to do even simple tasks/chores
If a child is spoiled, they won’t be willing to do anything you ask them to do unless there’s something in it for them. For example, if you ask them to brush their teeth before going to bed, they will refuse until and unless you bribe them with something they want. They are not willing to do simple chores like cleaning up their toys, clearing the dishes after dinner, etc.
